November 20, 2020

  Welcome back!

Reminders:

Next week 11/23-27 is Thanksgiving Break. We hope you have a safe and restful week!

When we come back, we will complete MAP Testing (12/1 and 12/2). Please make sure you know where the links are on Google Classroom and have read the email information so that we are all as prepared as possible and everything goes as smoothly as possible.

English Language Arts:

This week, we read through the beginning of  "The Voyage of the Dawn Treader" Chapter 14. Next week, we will continue the adventure with Caspian, Eustace, and the Pevensies to see what they do next! We're wrapping up the book and the story is quickly coming to a close.

**This is a "Classics to Keep" book. Each student should have their own copy to read from and annotate in.

For Poetry, we have started working on "The Bells" by Edgar Allen Poe. We will recite it at the end of the quarter.

Math:

Hello Spartan Family!

As we become more comfortable dividing with single fractions, we'll improve our skills by dividing two fractions--a fraction by a fraction.

Sincerely,

Mr. Dorazio

History:

Our next unit is titled "England's Golden Age." We will cover both the English Civil War and the ruler who came afterward.

Science:

To further our understanding of environments and ecosystems, we will begin investigating the changes that can be brought about by interaction with living organisms, including humans.

Grammar/Writing:

In Grammar next week, we'll review ALL of the knowledge we have about the three types of predicates. Students should be familiar with the definitions of and able to tell the difference in identifying predicate adjectives, predicate nominatives, predicate verbs, linking verbs, and direct objects in sentences.

In Writing, we'll begin working on ways to describe people and ourselves with detail and accuracy.
